Paris [VERSES] New York
Every city has their idiosyncrasies; and my two gems, featured in this book, the lifestyles are completely different, unique, and essential to the way we love them both. Vahram Muratyan draws out these observations and pairs them with witty taglines and bold illustrations highlighting what makes each city completely irreplaceable.

If you’re ever looking for a great guide book to NYC, this is it. A dear friend gave it to me for Christmas, and it has proven to be an exceptional guide to this crazy cool place. Organized by genre of activity, you can pick your musings at a moment’s notice and feel confident that you are spending your precious New York minutes well. Fear not, you will never feel like a tourist in using this guide, as it comes from well-seasoned New York city gals who know their stuff. You will feel like someone has let you in on all of their favorite discoveries throughout the city.
Happy exploring!
Here I go with another book recommendation.
I’ve been onto this kick of reading books by female comedians. Such as Bossypants by Tina Fey and Seriously…I’m Kidding by Ellen Degeneres. This one by Mindy Kaling definitely ranks up there with Bossypants. In fact, I have trouble deciding which I enjoyed more. Although I will say, for me at least, I think this book was more relatable than Fey’s. The chapter “Someone Explain One Night Stands to Me” had me roaring with laughter. I couldn’t agree more with her opinions. I’m a part of the ashamed minority that hasn’t watched more than 5 episodes of The Office (I know, I know. I’m fixing this soon) So I really didn’t know much about Mindy other than she appeared on the show. By the middle of the book (perhaps sooner), I fell in love with Kaling and couldn’t put the book down. Nor stop laughing. Now I’m questioning why I haven’t taken the time to watch The Office as well as why I haven’t come across the hilarious Mindy Kaling any sooner.
My Best Friend gave me this book for Christmas and I absolutely love it. It’s “wonderful portrait of people doing things they love- not for money, not for fame - but because it makes them happy”. It’s inspiring to hear stories about creatives who love their craft enough not to sell out for it, especially in today’s economic climate. Day 3: :’)
I feel like a vampire is going to come out of that secret door in the bookshelf.
